Systematic and mindful training is required to make the human body strong. Every body part has a specific need and accordingly it should be trained. There are many health-professionals who are constantly providing their unique health services. However, personally I feel that Human Mind is the most crucial element. Until you feed it with positive vibes and good energy you would not enjoy to the fullest.

If mind is not exercised then: Outwardly you would be strong, fit, rich, and famous but inside; deep within – you would be miserable and fake. You would suffer from jealousy, anger, depression, stress and will not have honest relationships. That’s not life man!

Gradually with time we start taking many things for granted. Creating and inviting problems for self. Our mind is weak; it’s not stable and always has the tendency to fall down. No one is teaching you how to keep your mind pepped up! We don’t know the required mechanism to lift our mind and keep it motivated.

The first thing required to counter all the negative thoughts is to counter back with a positive thought. This habit doesn’t come easy, however if you want to grow in life, feel happy about yourself then better learn this before life teaches you.

Hint – practice constant remembrance!

Our self-defense workshops tries to make the individual mindful and create awareness. Workshops have a unique curriculum that involves meditation, ergonomics, mindful breathing and self-defense. This has indeed received good response. 

We have a customized curriculum that runs for 10 days / 1 month / 6 months and for 1 year. These workshops bring about physiological as well psychological changes among the participants. One of our projects Mission 1000 is specifically designed only for the women and girls from disadvantage community. These workshops are conducted by our non-profit organization Colorss FoundationThese workshops are FREE for the participants.

In November 2016, Mission 1000 was in the Finals of Project Inspire, joint initiative from the Singapore Committee for UN Women and MasterCard, to help young change-makers create a better world for women and girls in Asia Pacific. Knowledge Partner, INSEAD, awarded us with full scholarships to INSEAD’s Social Entrepreneurship Programme (ISEP).

Out of 200 participants we were in top 10. Our objective is very clear to bring about psychological and psychological changes among the participants. Specifically, train the women. 

Our workshop gradually makes the individual quick, fast and powerful. The eye-hand coordination needs to be quick and fast. All these learning are useless, if mind is not ready to learn or accept changes happening around you. Recognize one thing, all the required responses to attack, block, run, defend, being alert and shout is given my mind. If the mind freezes then all the training goes in vain. Constant practice is required to keep the body-mind connected.

We have introduced something really cool and encouraging. We wish to give our participants an opportunity to utilize the knowledge acquired: be a part of giving back to the society. We train women/girls from disadvantage community in self-defense for free. Participate as a volunteer, revise what you learnt and see for yourself who got the opportunity to get trained when you got yourself trained. Buy 1 Gift 1 Is’t this cool!

We have trained more than 2000 women and children. As a trained martial artist 2nd Dan Black belt in Karate, Green Belt in Kubodo [Weapon System].

Love & Luck or is it Luck & Love

We as Indians are God fearing human beings, Spiritually inclined and celebrating all the festivals with utmost enthusiasm and flavor.  The trend of passing the culture and heritage from one family generation to the other is slowly declining. The fast paced life, pressure and stress can be a reason? What do you think?

However, personally for me its a mere excuse to label – the fact stands clear and loud; am not efficient enough to manage my time, work and family.  Acceptance has not yet developed and with time we are not ready to change. If you think deeply, as a person you have not changed. You are getting dragged into this fast pace demanding life. Like a puppet you are dancing on the tunes of your boss or your company responsibilities. You are acting as per the situation needs. Let me tell bluntly you are a bad actor. 

You as your own ‘self’ is no longer living! You do not have ownership on yourself.  We are ashamed to accept YES, I am inefficient to manage my life. We immediately label it across – on traffic, work pressure, stress, pollution, food, family problems, karma etc etc

Love & Luck or Luck & Love

We love playing with words and have something in-store as a lucky charm. I too have a lucky charm :P.  Need of a shoulder!

Lets not get into the in-depth of the issues, reasons and justifications. Its one of those factors which needs to be tackled tactfully. This is not the case with everyone, however many of us are in this phase of life. Unclear, confused, depressed, lonely and helpless – yet have a BIG FAT EGO.

Learn to change with time, evolve yourself with the demands. If we learn to do so, then our culture, heritage and family life would blossom. Even if time demands you to have nuclear family for job. It would not burn your heart permanently. As you are evolving with time. Once this is cultivated, distance is mere a number. 

Start practicing yoga, meditation and spend time with yourself. Take out two hours of pure dedicated time of your day for this. These will help you to keep your body-mind-soul synchronized.  Most of us do it and yet are not able to feel the difference. In this case and to everyone – You have to feel it and do it with dedication. Don’t mix it with other duties of your life. Do not compromise and for once be honest to yourself. You need to cultivate strong determination and have devotion.  If done correctly then you would be able to manage stress, obesity, work pressure, enjoy family relationship, have healthy social life and gracefully carry forward the culture and heritage. There are numerous positive spill overs.

The best is; once you learn to control your mind – your life would be in your control.

Once you start, within a week to three months [depending upon person to person] you can automatically feel the difference. Be honest! Let me tell you, Honesty is priceless. Every Tom, Dick and Harry doesn’t have this! Rest its your choice – you are the boss.

Power of Mind

I had been repeatedly focusing upon the Human Mind as its the most unpredictable thing. This quote is a constant reminder to be alert and not feed the mind with negative thoughts.

Human body has many unconscious processes which are not felt by the individual. These can be broadly put down for better understanding and relating to what I am trying to say:

  • Breathing – many of you do not know that you are breathing or the mere importance of breathing. In deep sleep you are not aware of your breath, your body, place and time
  • Eye hand coordination – the way the eyes and hand coordinate in sync
  • Hand – Leg coordination – while walking or running the beautiful coordination of Hand-Leg

so on and so forth.. These are few unconscious bodily movements which are happening irrespective of your conscious efforts to regulate it.

Deep inside your body there are numerous processes which are taking place constantly – digestion of food, regeneration of cells and muscles, relaxation of body, releasing of hormones for better health, hair growth, nail growth you name it and its happening inside your body.

This entire hard work gets affected if your little mind starts throwing tantrums. Human Mind which is the most powerful has the capacity to make you feel – happy, sad, gives you an electrifying feeling, boost up your motivation, puts you in depression, makes you a leader, makes you feel a looser, makes you think the world has come to an end, makes you feel you are the most blessed, makes you feel you are the best of best and what not.

The choice and option is within – think positive be positive

We behave in a manner which is directed by the little mind and the situations around. The mind needs to be trained and controlled. Yet, we are wasting our time on looking physically good, smart, beautiful, build up muscles, tone up tummy, six pack, hour-glass figure and the list goes on and on and on. The beauty is inside you, feel it and start living it. The day you start controlling your MIND and STOP entertaining negative thoughts you would soon find peace within, you would feel oneness and automatically you would start loving yourself. Many positive spill over are gradually seen and reflected by the individual who starts working on his own MIND. Being positive is not difficult, it needs efforts. It needs discipline, dedication and determination.

We are trapped in MAYA and it constantly pulls us down, makes us compare, makes us feel low and it does everything possible to make us feel miserable. However, once you realize the importance of being positive, importance of meditation, importance of doing SEVA, importance of helping others without any selfish interest, and importance of GOD you would gradually understand how the MIND can be controlled.

We are individuals with half-knowledge and [ass|u|me] things on our own beliefs. Start focusing and be clear – you need to train your mind. For success, for better relationships, for handling pressure and stress, for happiness and to serve everyone with love.

Don’t entertain negative thoughts – kick them up before they come near yourself. Meditate, spend time with positive people, spend time alone, focus on mindful breathing, enjoy the bliss of stasang and pray to the almighty GOD.

Communication – goof-ups

The biggest challenge for we humans is to have cordial relationship with other humans 😛  – Joke – no way – think for yourself – its a fact. All other challenges are manageable. However, managing every other person apart from the ‘self’ is the most toughest job. 

To maintain a cordial relationship we need to communicate – to communicate we need to LISTEN and TALK.

Many-a-times most of us regret – Oh! I should have not said that!  But then, its too late.
Yes, I too have made blunders on this challenging aspect. With time and practice am improving myself and its not difficult.

Tongue is an awesome muscle and it loves to create ripples. Controlling it is difficult!!! Hey, wait.. what all should we control. Mind – Heart – EGO and now Tongue —> the deadly combination of these makes communication so very complex.

The way we think and respond has got multiple blindspots:

– we communicate something else – but we meant something else
– we think something and say something else
– we think something and write something else
– we mean something and our content means something else
– we think and communicate and ‘ass’u’me’ you understood, what i meant?
– we complicate communication only by thinking too much about what needs to be communicated
– we stop communicating if we are angry, stressed out, pissed off or frustrated
– we stop communicating and again ‘ass’u’me’ you understood, why I did!
– we screwed up something and to avoid circumstance we stop communicating
  phew and the list goes on and on – would love to hear about communication challenges

The complex nature of communication related issues increases as you grow up in life and have more responsibilities to manage. This is a life-long learning process and will end with the last breath of your life 🙂 cheeky is’t it!

This list is exhaustive but every problem has a solution. Listening is the most crucial part of communication; to be clear – listening and understanding the other person before talking needs to be practiced on a regular basis

–  Keep practicing and never give up:-
–  Listen properly before you talk
–  choose the right word to describe your thoughts
–  be calm and composed when you communicate
–  use simple and easy sentences to convey yourself
–  make sure you cross-check on the details conveyed and they understood you properly
–  stop ASSUMING —else you would end up making an ‘ASS’ – ‘U’ – ‘ME’
–  communicate your thoughts then and there and do not delay it. Thoughts communicated during the on-going program, workshops, discussions, situations… are easier to correlate and understand
–  Start practicing meditation and keep your mind calm
–  Do not react – be responsive
–  Think before you talk
–  Learn to accept your mistake and don’t shy way to say Sorry

With a mindful eye, dedicatedly keep practicing. You would soon better up with your own communication style.

Does Your Work Space Give You A Pain In The Neck?

Ergonomics is the boss and you should never mess with the boss.

Occupational hazards like Shoulder-neck and back pain are increasing day by day. I had been through this phase for 3/4 years. Just have to make some changes in your life-style.

Most of our social entrepreneurs spend maximum hours on computer, mobile or laptop. Sleeping hours are erratic, eating habits don’t ask me and sleep [what is that]!!! Healthy body, mind and soul are required to give your best to your venture, job or your life.  These are the changes I incorporated in my lifestyle and it has helped me immensely. Not sure, if it would help you. However you can try and somebody who is in real pain – it’s better to consult the doctor.

Create awareness and be mindful about everything around you.

Rest: – Yes, this is the most important aspect to be followed. Give your body rest. For all those who are suffering from shoulder-neck and back pain should immediately try to reduce the usage of your shoulders, fingers and arms.  Your body needs time to recover and heal

Ergonomics: – Follow good and healthy ergonomics to reduce further damage and to help in recovery.  These links will help you understand

Healthy Food: – Have a balanced diet

Walk: – Spend some time for your own self, go for a walk and relax your entire body. 30 – 60 minutes’ walk would help you distress and make you feel relaxed

Exercise: – Include stretching exercise in your daily routine. Do not over exert on the first day or first week. Have a disciplined routine. In case of severe pain or problem talk to your doctor before you start

Meditation: – Love yourself. Take out 10/15 minutes of the day to meditate. This is your personal time – no thoughts – no work – no business plan – no negotiation – no pitch practice – absolute scalene do nothing. Turn on soothing music and listen the beats and follow them. Keep practicing this and you would gradually start falling in love. If you can’t sit for 10 minutes – start with 5 minutes. This will help you start your journey in Meditation: Be mindful

Sleep: – Get some good sleep

LIFE – without a spiritual life?

Spirituality does’t mean to give up on LIFE, its the energy that helps you grow and teaches you how to LIVE. Many-a-times people get lost in this journey. For me, I was lucky. At every junction of life, someone was always around to guide me 🙂 God has been great.

Folks who know me are aware that I am an Introvert person. Who prefers to talk less and enjoy the nature! Hardworking, creative and full of energy [well only when I am working] at times am moody. However, the point is not about me as an individual or even talking about it. Life has been such a wonderful journey, learning new things, traveling, taking risks and most important; being aware that the real essence of life is ‘Spirituality.’

The positive attitude towards life has always helped me. As a martial artist we have been teaching self-defense to women across different corporate houses. Teaching the housewives and girls in societies and provide online training programme.

In this journey of teaching we too learned many things, we upgraded our curriculum and we made changes as per the need of hour. The objective of our workshops is to address the mind – body and soul. To make it complete, now our workshops are packed with the divine amalgamation of meditation and karate. These workshops are designed as per the need, time, age, body and requirement. These workshops requires time till the individual can feel the difference within. You as a participant need to have patience and trust yourself. Constant remembrance to our mind, body and soul is required to grow. We do provide these workshops to the disadvantaged communities and personally I feel they should not be neglected. The good news is that we provide it for FREE to them.

Passion never looses its charm.

All these workshops are provided through our non-profit Colorss Foundation. In past our projects has shown positive results. Recently one of our project Mission 1000 is 2016 finalist at Project Inspire the multi-award-winning initiative presents 18-35-year-olds worldwide with an opportunity to win a US$25,000 grant to assist an existing organisation which supports women and girls in Asia-Pacific, the Middle East or Africa. Project Inspire: 5 Minutes to Change the World is a joint initiative from the Singapore Committee for UN Women and MasterCard, to help young change-makers create a better world for women and girls in Asia and the Pacific.

Established in 2014, Mission 1000 is a project that empowers women by aiming to teach self-defense skills to 1000 young girls, at no cost to them, every financial year. We are now holding workshops, which are led by the founder Anand Koti. Every workshop is now able to teach 50 young girls. Koti, who has a 2 black dan belt in Karate and a green belt in Kobudo, trains these girls to kick, punch and block assaults from sexual attackers. He also teaches them to meditate and how to develop a calmer and more focused disposition.

Life is continuous school where you learn – unlearn every single second. Consciously or unconsciously we learn many things. We as humans unconsciously imitate others in certain areas for which the individual strongly feels connected.

Unwanted advises:

  • Positive approach – always have a positive attitude – around the good – the bad
  • Trust yourself – utmost importance: do not get carried away with situations/peer pressure
  • Patience – without this you will never be able to grow and enjoy life
  • Hard Work – do not shy away from hard work. There is no easy way!
  • Faith – it rules
  • Attachment – do not get attached with the outcome of your hard-work
  • Meditation – spend sometime alone and practice meditation
  • Love & Respect – love yourself and respect – treat others as you wish to get treated

Patience Pays : there is no shortcuts

It’s a proud moment to share that our non-profit organisation Colorss Foundation which works for the development and education of women and children is a finalist at Project Inspire. 

Mission 1000 is a project that has got amazing amalgamation of meditation and karate along with life-skills workshop attached to it. It’s focuses upon creating and make the girl child physically and psychologically strong. They undergo vigorous self-defense training to address any unforeseen circumstances. These workshops have got mediation and life-skills workshops which make them calm, composed and help them learn the necessary skills required to handle day-to-day life problems. You can read more about the project : Mission 1000 . Am leading this project and imparting training to disadvantaged girls and women FREE of cost. 

Patience pays: if you are looking for a miracle. Then it’s not going to happen, trust me. 

As a martial artist we need to put in lot of efforts to create awareness within the individual. The core essence of our workshops is to make the individual physically, psychologically and spiritually strong. Our workshops has the amalgamation of karate and mediation. These workshops will help you beat all the stress, keep a check on brain-drain, keep you physically strong and in emergency help you throw a punch. 

Mission 1000 is something similar, however the crux over here is that our project is a finalist from all the participants from Asia and Pacific. It helps us understand how the impact is created and measured. It also gives us the much required reinforcement that our services are workable solutions for betterment.
