There is no place other than road to run!

runners-751853_1280.jpgFeel happy to see the steady rise of health conscious people.  They are into many things, which keep them healthy. Fitness is moving to a different level.  I see them walking, jogging, cycling, gyming, cross-fit, yoga, strength training, endurance and so many more. This really makes me feel happy, as personally am a self-defence trainer and a health conscious individual.

What I had been noticing and observing is that most of the joggers are jogging on the road with the on-going vehicular traffic! My concern is specifically for the early morning joggers and cyclist who are out on fitness journey before sun-rise, in near pitch-darkness. They are rarely visible jogging on the road. During monsoon season it’s a challenge, the drivers need to be more vigilant to identify the presence of humans on road specifically at early hours.

Okay, there is no place other than road to run! I can understand, there is no harm to be on the road. However, how safe is it!

I have closely observed joggers running opposite traffic direction so that the driver can see their little hands moving here and there – asking them move aside and not to run-over them. At the same time, they are cautious, alert and in a position to run off the road if the driver miss seeing you. The anxiety, stress and extra alertness are clearly seen on the face of the joggers.

My question would be to the health conscious people – joggers – walkers and cyclist. Does this stress help you when you are out there to stay healthy?

The simple solution would be to educate and use common sense. Rather than keeping your mind alert. Get reflectors, glow in darkness, choose your freedom, and enjoy your workouts.

It would really make things easier for the joggers and as well for the drivers if certain precautions are taken care. The joggers and cyclists should wear radium/ light reflecting clothes which can discover your presence on road at such an hour, when no one else is on the road.

Your workout gear needs to be bright, fluorescent and must reflect! Don’t go for black, grey or brown attire which would absorb light and make you feel sexy.

The gym owners, marathon runners, health conscious people should encourage them about safety and how to be visibly visible when on road. You are a health conscious individual sweating out to be healthy. Enjoy it and be mindful about being safe. Train hard and be smart.

Cheers

Does Your Work Space Give You A Pain In The Neck?

Ergonomics is the boss and you should never mess with the boss.

Occupational hazards like Shoulder-neck and back pain are increasing day by day. I had been through this phase for 3/4 years. Just have to make some changes in your life-style.

Most of our social entrepreneurs spend maximum hours on computer, mobile or laptop. Sleeping hours are erratic, eating habits don’t ask me and sleep [what is that]!!! Healthy body, mind and soul are required to give your best to your venture, job or your life.  These are the changes I incorporated in my lifestyle and it has helped me immensely. Not sure, if it would help you. However you can try and somebody who is in real pain – it’s better to consult the doctor.

Create awareness and be mindful about everything around you.

Rest: – Yes, this is the most important aspect to be followed. Give your body rest. For all those who are suffering from shoulder-neck and back pain should immediately try to reduce the usage of your shoulders, fingers and arms.  Your body needs time to recover and heal

Ergonomics: – Follow good and healthy ergonomics to reduce further damage and to help in recovery.  These links will help you understand

  1. How to sit at a Computer
  2. How to improve posture

Healthy Food: – Have a balanced diet

Walk: – Spend some time for your own self, go for a walk and relax your entire body. 30 – 60 minutes’ walk would help you distress and make you feel relaxed

Exercise: – Include stretching exercise in your daily routine. Do not over exert on the first day or first week. Have a disciplined routine. In case of severe pain or problem talk to your doctor before you start

Meditation: – Love yourself. Take out 10/15 minutes of the day to meditate. This is your personal time – no thoughts – no work – no business plan – no negotiation – no pitch practice – absolute scalene do nothing. Turn on soothing music and listen the beats and follow them. Keep practicing this and you would gradually start falling in love. If you can’t sit for 10 minutes – start with 5 minutes. This will help you start your journey in Meditation: Be mindful

Sleep: – Get some good sleep

Keep enjoying yourself and keep inspiring.

Cheers,

Anand

A wise man can learn more from a foolish question than a fool can learn from a wise answer. Bruce Lee

Learning is a part of life and you keep learning consciously or unconsciously till the last breath of your life. Everyone dreams for the a better life and a better world. Some dream the dream and some take the first step to make it a reality.

As a martial artist, I perceive life with a positive eye. For there is always an opportunity in every given situation to pounce back. When I came to ISEP, I dropped my guard and was ready to unlearn – learn. Being an open minded person it was not difficult to get in this learning mode.

There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure. Colin Powell

Social Entrepreneurship is an emerging area – we got a totally out-of-the box experience. At an individual level learnt many more than I had actually thought of. Needless to say, the way it was designed was very effective. Understanding the heart and heart [oops meant the mind] of the social entrepreneurs; the curriculum in a perfect way, penetrated deep within the mind, yes the mind.

Outstanding Professors – Outstanding curriculum – Outstanding colleagues working on Outstanding solutions

I would thank all of you who made this a wonderful and interesting learning experience. Each one of you has made an impact on me and its going to be helpful.

If a country is to be corruption free and become a nation of beautiful minds, I strongly feel there are three key societal members who can make a difference. They are the father, the mother and the teacher. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam

Professor Hans & Professor Jasjit you are best anyone can ask for! You are a complete 200% package.  All the professors who taught us have been able to make a huge impact.  As we began the course, many troubling questions were answered! Many more were answered, which could had been a possible threat in the future. The Professors are like the guiding angel you ask them and they answer within no time. The connection and network built is one of its kind. Clear, neat and transparent.

However, the real gem of this entire programme has been Ms Christabel Kek who tirelessly took care of each and every individual. Special thanks to her skills, passion and energy.

Traveling : The Unconscious Teacher

Among all those lovely teachers around….Travelling is one of them which I consider to be a very good teacher. It teaches you many things in your personal life. Right from managing your finances, food, stay, planning, people handling and more importantly learning more about your own self.

Traveling explores your unknown potential at body and mind level. It actually pushes you for the unexpected; where your threshold is challenged every now and then. Mountain tracking actually challenges your mind the most. Forget the body support… It’s purely the mental strength which defines the success of the mountain tracking adventure or any given traveling.

Traveling also gives you an opportunity in understanding and respecting different cultures. Different ethics and values of each and every place only enriches you as an individual. It gives you an opportunity to grow mature in your personal life. There has always been an impact of the experiences felt be it good or bad on your life as a whole. Right from your attitude till your sleeping habits.

Negative experience helps in creating wonders in your life. Your patience, people handling, mental strength, body capacity and capabilities are all tested in one go!!! Don’t forget you have passed them gracefully.

As always, I reinforce we should always have positive attitude towards life.

No doubt its wonderful teacher – however how many of we as travelers learn and use it in our day-to-day life. The mind many-a-times create such mind-web and you yourself becomes a victim. Suddenly all your travel learning go for a toss. What I am trying to tell you here is – no matter what you learn from your experiences, if you can’t utilize them in your daily life any learning from any format or experience is of no use.

Everything bottom’s down to power of mind.  Mother nature has got immense information to give out – be open to accept them and apply it across in your life.

Cheers,

For Love as always,

Anand
